SYNOPSIS:

The Maze Runner is based on the bestselling book The Maze Runner, first book in the trilogy, by James Dashner which was released in 2009. The story is about Thomas when he was sent to the Glade without any memory aside from his name. Inside the Glade, Thomas met a group of teenage boys who like him have no memory of their past before they were sent to the Glade. All of them didn't know who they were before, where they came from, or why they were sent in the Glade. The Glade is the place where these teenage boys spent their everyday lives, it's where they eat, sleep, and work. These teenage boys call themselves Gladers. The Glade has four walls surrounding it, or enclosing it is a much better word because they were trapped in the Glade. Thomas, from the first time he came out from the elevator that sent him in the Glade, was very curious about his surroundings. He always asks questions; questions that even Gladers don't know the answers to. He's very curious about why they were sent there and how are they going to get out. For 3 years, the Gladers have not found their way out but that doesn't stop them from looking that's why they always send a group of Gladers outside the Glade to look for a way out. Outside the Glade is a big maze and a group of Gladers called Maze Runner is being sent to the maze everyday to study the maze so they could find their way out but to no avail. Having learned the job of the maze runners and because he badly wants to get out, Thomas wants to be one.

IF I STAY MOVIE THOUGHTS AND FEELS

I just got home from the movie theater after watching If I Stay, one of my most anticipated book-to-movie adaptations this 2014. And I had these nagging thoughts that I really really want to blurt out. Or write. For those who haven’t read both the books, this post will most probably spoil you the book 1 and book 2 (not really), i.e. If I Stay and Where She Went, respectively.

First, I wanna throw out that I have mixed emotions with the movie. Or how it was adapted.

And then I’m gonna throw this background story on you:

If I Stay is based from the bestselling novel of Gayle Forman. It follows the life of Mia Hall where she had an out-of-body experience after a very tragic accident she and her whole family have been through that caused the lives of all of them except for her, who’s battling with life in the ICU. The title of the book is very straight forward because it’s a war with herself if she’s going to stay even though she’s the only one left in her family or if she will not stay and join them.

So the story revolves around there with a bit of flashbacks on the side to tell about Mia’s story.

I liked the book. Maybe not so much as I like Where She Went, but I still liked it. I liked If I Stay even more so when I read it the second time. There’s something about the book that got me so hooked. I liked the writing of Gayle, how emotional it can be. I liked how it switched from present to past. And I can’t just imagine how it will play out in the movie without being too weird or obvious or cheesy. Adam and Mia, while their love save Mia from comatose state, it felt like a side story to me at the time I’m reading the book.

But enough about my sentiments about the book, let’s talk about the movie!

Non-book Related: Teen Wolf 4x03 "Muted" Thoughts and Feels

I know.. I know.. almost a week have passed since the Muted episode and we will be having episode 4 on Monday (Tuesday here in the Philippines) but I still need to let this out because TW episode 3 was so good I have a lot of thoughts that I need to spill out.

This post is not much of a review or recap but more of what I think about the episode, what I think about season 4. As much as I love writing stuff about the things I like, I also love reading posts of other people about the things I like and from there I create thoughts of my own. Episode 3 has a lot of things going and I need to let this out.

But before that, can I just say that Muted is one of my favorite episodes of Teen Wolf along with Illuminated (3B) and Motel California (3A) and Insatiable (3B). Muted is probs their best yet, and I think everyone (myself included) missed the old shenanigans of Teen Wolf in season 1. And this episode reminds us of season 1 but better, way way better.

The Fault in Our Stars Movie Thoughts and Feels

I usually discuss movies if they were based from a book I’ve read and cared and loved. I want to dissect each scene that they included and scenes that they don’t. I want to rant when they change a specific scene from the book. But as I’ve said, only to book that I’ve read AND cared AND loved.

I watched tfios alone because I want to be alone with my feels. I want to focus and not entertain a company. I don’t want to talk about it during the movie and I don’t want to talk about it after the movie because tfios is one of my favorite books that I want to be alone when I face it.

So that happened.
And the whole cinema cried. I watched on the first day it was released because I won’t be able to contain the excitement. A lot of people laugh at funny things and cried so much like maybe halway through the movie. Some even clapped during end credits.

The movie left me speechless so much so I can’t form coherent thoughts so I could write down notes about it. I can’t even write my own feels. I know then I’m not ready to discuss it that time. But then maybe I have a lot on my plate that time what’s with Taylor Swift concert and school.

Right now I’m not sure what I want to write about tfios. I just know I have to write something about it.

DO NOT read City of Heavenly Fire if you haven’t read The Infernal Devices trilogy yet because you will be spoiled and you might not enjoy TID when you read it.

If you plan on reading The Infernal Devices, please, go ahead, finish Clockwork Princess first before reading CoHF.

If you have no plan on reading The Infernal Devices trilogy, why? Why would you deny yourself the beauty that is TID? WHY? They were Cassandra Clare’s best books!
If you think TMI is the best series, wait til you read TID. And if you think TMI is not a good series, wait til you read TID. You know what I mean? :D
And if I may suggest to people who are planning on reading this whole Shadowhunter series, for pure reading pleasure, read all the shadowhunters books based on their released dates.
